The way we use each social platform will constantly change, there will be new tools and different trends. Here are my current top tips when it comes to using Instagram
Links
Don’t put links in Instagram captions! If I can’t be bothered copying and pasting them out, then who would be? Use a call to action to visit your profile instead. Instagram does not hyperlink URLs in a post caption unless you are running paid advertising.
When creating stories on Instagram, the ‘link’ feature is a great way to keep track of your call to action and make it easier for your followers to make a booking or purchase. You can then view these results in your insights.
Interact with your audience
Instagram is a great place to engage with your audience. It’s normally light-hearted and fun. Often your customers ask genuine questions too, so it’s important to respond to these too. Don’t you love it when big brands reply to you on social media? Your customers love it too! Answer their questions, like their comments, and keep them engaged.
Tailor your content to suit Instagram
For one, your posts have to contain an image or video and its important to write captions suitable to Instagram. You don’t want them to be too long, and you want your key points to appear before the ‘…more’
Hashtags
The advice on the number of hashtags to include on Instagram is always changing so it’s a good idea to mix it up to see what works for your business. Hashtags describe your post so that your post comes up when someone is looking at other posts on a similar topic. It’s a way for people who are not following your page can see your posts without paid advertising. While you can use up to 30 hashtags, 3-5 is the current recommendation.
Video is golden
Videos perform well, there’s no doubt about it. It’s pretty easy to catch yourself scrolling through reel after reel. Take some time to research businesses similar to yours and to make some simple yet watchable videos. This is the sort of content Instagram pushes to users over still images.
